Chicago

Hi Everyone,

Last time I promised that I will take you through the journey of my life. But it has been a long time that I even opened my blog.
Anyways, I will not continue from where I left, rather I will keep on writing in bits n pieces here n there.

So, guys, I am in Chicago in "THE US" as they call it. This is my first weekend in Chicago and it seems that I have been captured in this place since ages.

The day I landed in Chicago, I realized that this place is so differnt. People travel in miles and measure the temperature in fahreinheit. You bring home gallon of milk and you weigh in pounds. You do not get curd but you get yogurt. People do not eat chapatis/roti but they like tortillas. Initially it was so difficult for me to figure out Quarter, Dime, Nickel from each other. I am still confused between Nickel and Dime as in which one is 5 cents and which one is 10 cents.
It is just the onset of winter and there is snow all around. God knows what will happen around the new year. People say that Chicago is called the windy city, is normally colder than the other cities. If you are walking out and you don't have proper clothes on, it seems that the body portion revealed will freeze. We cannot see even a single person on road, when we are walking on road, we will be the the only two persons on road, braving the cold and walking to catch the bus to office/home.

I am eagerly waiting to return back to my homeland where I will travel in kilometers, eat curd and roti/chapati and bring milk in litres.

So thats what Chicago is to me for the first week I have stayed here. Will write about some thing else in my next post. Till then, keep waiting.

My first Post - Bareilly

Hi Everyone,
This is Abhinav Shrivastav from Bareilly, U.P.
To know more of me, you should know more about my birthplace. So this post will be dedicated to my birth place i.e. Bareilly.
Those who haven't heard of Bareilly, remember the "Jhumka gira re, Bareilly ke bazaar mein". Yes guys, its the same city and till date people have not been able to find out the jhumka :-). People who are fond of kites, must have heard about the "manjha" of Bareilly. Also, if you guys remember Priyanka Chopra was in Bareilly when she became Miss World.
Bareilly, a district located around 250 kms from Delhi and 250 kms from Lucknow, some where between these two cities. Also known as "Bans Bareilly" due to it large Bamboo market. Asia's largest veternary research institute "Indian Veternary Research Institute" is here. It also boast of having one of the important Air Force Base (Trishul), and a cantonment area. Standing on the Ramganga River, it is the capital of Rohilkhand Division and is a center for the manufacture offurniture and for trade incotton, grain and sugar.
Bareilly is home to a number of famous hindu temples. It has four Nath (Shiva) temples at its four corners, Alakhnath, Tiberinath, Madhinath, and Dhopeshwarnath. One of the well known temples is the Shri Laxmi Narayan Mandir (located in Katra Manrya street near Bara Bazar). This temple was built by the efforts of a Muslim named Chuuna Miya. There is also another reputed temple of lord DoopeshwarNath which is assumed to be the place where Draupadi and Drishtadyumn was born by a grace of lord shiva in Mahabharata era.
So lots of things about Bareilly. The subsequent posts will take you through my life's journey.
